The region of MARIGOT.
* GEOGRAPHY :
- located on the west side of the Basse-Terre on the windy coast ("côte sous le vent"), the little town of Marigot is caressed by the trade winds (alizés). The coastline is formed by a succession of little coves, each one more beautiful than the next one, which are hemed by some lovely peebles beaches (the fichers ones) or sandy ones, with a white or blond sand depending of the place. - integral part of the district of Vieux-Habitants, the Morne Marigot is located at a very short distance of some major places of the Guadeloupean tourism : first the Beaugendre river, its bathes, its strolls, and the Grivellière, old habitation where slaves used to plant and harvest coffee (3-4 km), l'anse à la Barque (1 km), Petite-Anse beach and its domain (1-2 km), the Cousteau's reserve, its scuba diving clubs, its aquarium-boats (10 km), then Basse-Terre, city of art and history, the county town (10 km), the Soufrière (15 km), the nature reserve of Guadeloupe (20-25 km), the long and sandy beach of the north, in particular the Deshaies one (30 km)...
